Late Arrival (or Early Departure)
Try to arrive early so you can be settled on your mat before class begins.
If you arrive after yoga class has begun, as a courtesy to the other students and the instructor, please wait to enter the yoga practice room until the class finishes initial centering (the first 5 minutes of class when the class is focusing on the breath in mindfulness meditation). Try to enter the practice room and place your mat as quietly as possible, after the class has finished initial centering, and begun active movement.
The same applies for early departure--if you have to leave before class ends, please inform the instructor at the beginning of class, and leave before the class goes down for savasana (final relaxation).
Yoga and Pilates require focused concentration. After you enter the practice room, try to keep unnecessary talking to a minimum. In order to progress in your yoga & Pilates practice, it is necessary to try to remain focused throughout class.
The cut-off age for adult classes at Bayview is 12. We do not allow children to wait on the premises while their parents are in class.
Please remember to sign in for your class.
We post the current status of multi-class passes. It is your responsibility to monitor your pass status and buy a new pass when you have used all your classes. Multi-class passes expire one year after date of sale. Multi-class passes are non-refundable and non-transferable. Two family members may share one multi-class pass.
We consider ourselves your wellness partners. The more consistently and the more frequently you exercise, the better the results. Once you have attended two of our classes in one week, your third and subsequent classes that week are FREE! Just write "free" next to your name on the sign-in sheet.
What to Bring
For yoga, please bring a yoga mat and water bottle. For Pilates, we supply cushioned mats but you may prefer to bring your own yoga mat to place over it. Remove shoes for yoga and Pilates and leave them by the entryway. Other belongings also may be left in the entryway. Please do not bring personal belongings on to the yoga practice floor. For yoga and and Pilates you need to be able to spread your toes and have a firm grip on the mat--so work barefoot, or wear yoga socks. We have a supply of loaner yoga mats if you are in town and want to take class but do not have a mat. Our studio is equipped with yoga blankets, blocks, bolsters, straps, cushioned mats for Pilates, and eye pillows for general use.
For fitness classes, please bring a water bottle and wear athletic shoes. In the wintertime it is best to carry the athletic shoes and change into them once you reach the studio. We have "cubbies" and boot trays in the entryway.
DVD Classes (Free)
We require a minimum of two students for classes. However, we don't want you to come to Bayview and find out your class has been cancelled because no one else showed up. So when only one student shows up, we do a DVD class with you. And the class is free. Occasionally, if the instructor is ill, we also may offer DVD classes at no charge.
We generally follow the Red Creek School District closing policies. If school is closed due to weather, our classes are cancelled. If there is a two-hour delay, our mid-morning classes are on. If there is early dismissal due to weather, our afternoon and evening classes are cancelled. If after-school and evening activities at school are cancelled, our afternoon and evening classes are cancelled. If you have any questions about weather and class, check our Facebook page (see link at the top of this website) or call us at 315-591-7847.
We occasionally close for a break. We announce planned studio closings well in advance, on our website.
